Meetings

Grand Prairie Cemetery Association will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the Grand Prairie Cemetery. In case of rain the meeting will be in the back room of Orv and Sons Plumbing in Ellsworth.

County road weight restrictions end

The ending date for spring weight road restrictions is Friday, April 13, on highways under the jurisdiction of the Rock County Highway Department. Call County Engineer Mark Sehr at 507-283-5010 with questions.

 

History Center open 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

The new History Center on East Main Street in Luverne will be open regularly from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Call 283-2122 with questions.

Monthly Food Ministry April 20

The Monthly Food Ministry, sponsored by New Life Celebration Church, will be from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Luverne Senior Center. If you’re having trouble putting food on the table, come for fresh produce, bread and meat. Children will be asked to wait outside. Call Gloria at 283-4366 with questions.

 

Shrine Circus tickets available for free

Local businesses are sponsoring free Shrine Circus tickets for area children at the following locations: Teal’s Market, Teal’s Food and Gas, Minnwest Bank on Main Street and Kniss Avenue, First Farmers & Merchants Bank, Exchange State Bank, Pizza Ranch and at the April 6 Bank Nite Movie at the Palace. Hospice Dinner and Auction April 22

The annual Hospice Charity Dinner and Auction is Saturday, April 22, at Grand Prairie Events in Luverne. Doors open at 5 p.m.; silent auction bidding ends promptly at 7. Call 507-283-1805.

 

Join Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library invite the public to join in support of the Rock County Community Library as members of the organization. A single membership is $10 and family memberships are $15. Stop in the library for more information.

 

Community meal at Methodist Church April 26

The United Methodist Church in Luverne will again be serving a “Fourth Wednesday” meal to the public Wednesday, April 26.  Serving begins at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

 

Blue Mounds State Park Advisory Group


The Minnesota DNR will host the fourth and final meeting of the Blue Mounds State Park Citizen Advisory Group from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in the picnic shelter of the park. Agenda items include a walking tour of the picnic grounds and beach to discuss potential recreational features. The public is invited to participate.

 

LWML Spring Rally April 29 in Luverne

The LWML Pipestone Zone Spring Rally will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Gary Thies, LCMS counselor at Mission Central, will speak. The rally will emphasize the need to “Tell the Story” of Jesus’ love for all. Call Elaine, 507-348-3177.
