Luverne Township Board meets at 9 a.m. the second Wednesday of every month in the Rock County Community Library.
Mound Township Board meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Monday each month at the Rock County Highway Building, Luverne.
Weight Watchers meets every Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. Weigh-in is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Call 800-651-6000.
 
Community Meal Aug. 26
The free Fourth Wednesday Community Meal will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne.
 
Bus trip to Senior Citizens Day at State Fair Aug. 31
There are still seats left on the bus to the Minnesota State Fair on Senior Citizens Day Monday, Aug. 31. The charter bus will also stop at Worthington and Windom. Fee is $45 for bus and admission. Call the Luverne Community Education office at 283-4724 to sign up.
 
Women of Rock County Fine Arts show at Carnegie
Women of Rock County Fine Arts will show their new art work during the month of August at the Carnegie Cultural Center. The show includes work by Naidine Aanenson, Cindy Reverts, Kristen Peterson, Carol Ceynowa, Lois Young, Kathy Deuschle, Nan Kaufenberg, Judy Edenstrom, Mary Petersen, Lori Hallsrom and Kaia Nowatzki.
 
Rock County 4-H to host Lego Robotics Open House

Awana kick-off
Awana kick-off will be at 6:55 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at First Baptist Church. Awana is a non-denominational Bible club for youth kindergarten through 12th grade. A hotdog supper will be provided for the entire family. All are invited.
 
Luverne Area MOPS kick-off meeting set for Sept. 9
Luverne Area MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) kick-off meeting for the 2015-2016 year will be Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Living Rock Church. Registration is required. For more information contact Wanda Jarchow at 507-283-9664.

The Fall Brochure will be available in the Labor Day Announcer with classes/activities for the fall. Yoga, flag football, cheer camp, volleyball, gymnastics, zumba, ECFE classes all have an early start in Sept. Registrations will be taken beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, by calling 283-4724.
Concerned about your child’s development (ages 0-5 years)? Call 283-4724 for a private screening at no cost.
Register for 2016 Discovery Time preschool. There are openings for children ages 3, 4, or 5 years in the Tuesday/Thursday afternoon classes. 
All 3-year-old children living in Minnesota will do an Early Childhood Screening as they near age 4. If your child is nearly 4 years old or already 4 and has not been screened, call 283-4724 to arrange an appointment.
