Registration open for students new to Luverne district
New residents to Luverne School District #2184 should come to respective school offices and register students for the 2018-2019 school year.
The high school/middle school office is open for new students to register. To make an appointment to register for students in grades 6-12, call the middle school/high school office at 283-4491.
The elementary office is open for new students in grades K-5 to register. Parents should ontact the office at 507-283-4497.
The new school year starts on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Tractor Ride set for Friday, Aug. 31
The 2018 Tractor Ride is set for Friday, Aug. 31, with registration at 8 a.m. at the Luverne City Park, and the 50-mile ride is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. For $25 participants receive breakfast and lunch.

Magnolia All School Reunion Aug. 31-Sept. 2
The Magnolia All-School Reunion will be Aug. 31-Sept. 2. There’s a Friday night catered meal that requires registration.
Saturday’s events start off with breakfast at the Magnolia Café from 6 to 11 a.m., when the parade is expected to begin. Call Marilyn Bergman, 507-220-1115, about parade entries.
After the parade, the Magnolia Fire Department will host a pork feed followed by a street dance from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

2018 Cover Crop Field Talk set for Sept. 11
The 2018 Cover Crop Field Talk will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Tom Fick farm west of Luverne at 1157 110th Avenue. The event will include cover crop topics of discussion, demonstrations and experiences of local farmers. The event is free, and a free lunch is available if signed up before Sept. 7 at Rock County SWCD at 507-283-8862.
Schultz featured at BackPack/Child Guide fundraiser Sept. 19
Mark Schultz, a contemporary Christian singer, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the American Reformed Church in Luverne. The concert is a fundraiser for the BackPack and Child Guide programs at Luverne Public School. Tickets are available at Wildflowers Coffee Boutique or at ARC for $20 for adults and $10 for students.

The Friends of the Library are collecting books, DVD movies and CDs for their upcoming sale.
