Wow, July 4 already! Where has the summer gone?
The Fourth is the unofficial midpoint of summer, and for me it’s going to be over with before I know it. Buffalo Days is over, tomorrow is the Fourth of July, and after next week Hot Dog night will be in the books for another year. Again, where has the summer gone?
The one date that I have had marked on my calendar for some time is Friday, July 12. That’s the date that Church of Cash is returning to Take 16 for another performance.
If you were able to catch their first trip to town for the Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener last October, you know why the 12th is circled on my calendar.
Not long after Church of Cash played here for the Governor’s Opener, they were booked to play at the Worthington Auditorium, and they filled the 700-plus-seat house. Just a couple of months ago they played to a packed house at the Grand Falls Casino show lounge, and some say it was one of the best shows in the casino’s eight-year history.
So circle July 12 on your calendar and get down to Take 16 Brewing Company and enjoy a couple of local brews while taking in the legendary songs of Johnny Cash preformed by Church of Cash.
Just an FYI — Johnny Cash recorded nearly 1,500 songs, and Church of Cash covers 250 of his greats hits.
As this summer is flying by, I have noticed it seems as though Highway 75 between the interstate and Main Street has become the favorite location for orange construction barrels. Is it just me or have portions of the new sidewalk and boulevard grass on the east side of the highway between McDonald’s and the old Sharkee’s site been put down and torn up and then put back down only to be torn up again?
