We are kind of entering the holiday season with Halloween just around the corner and Thanksgiving and Christmas already on some of our minds.
But sandwiched between Halloween and Thanksgiving is Veterans Day. For me the Mt. Rushmore of holidays would be #1 Christmas, #2 Memorial Day, #3 Veterans Day and #4 would be Thanksgiving.
So seeing how Veterans Day is about three weeks away, that is my column topic this week.
If I were granted one do-over in life. mine would be to have served in the United States Military.
If you are like me and are looking for a way to show the men and women that have served this country in the military your appreciation, the Luverne Area Community Foundation has a way that you can do just that.
Please consider honoring our veterans by making a donation to the Rock County Veterans Fund. This fund was established to support organizations within our county committed to honoring the legacy of those that have served in the United States Armed Services.
Donations can be named in honor or memory of a person who has served or is currently serving.
It’s really simple to donate. Just write a check to LACF, include a note with the person’s name and branch of service, and mail it to P.O. Box 623, Luverne, MN 56156; or go to www.luvacf.org and make a credit card donation. Go to “donate now,” click on the Rock County Veterans Fund and follow the prompts.
Please make your donation before Nov. 7. The Luverne Area Community Foundation will publish the names of the veterans honored in the November 12 edition of the Rock County Star Herald.
If you have questions about the Veterans fund, please call Emily Crabtree at 507-220-2424.
