My last column was about buying a new alarm clock. This one is going to be about time. More precisely, the following is more about the word “time” than how to tell time.
I figured there is no better time to write about time than now, so I suppose you could say it’s about time.
We have part time, full time and vacation time. Some people consider vacation time as party time or just leisure time.
If there’s a stop in play during a football game, that is a timeout. If you’re a little unruly as a child, you’re put in a timeout.
We have nap time and bedtime and time to wake up.
Some of my favorite times are lunchtime and suppertime. I also prefer an early tee-time.
If “only time will tell,” does that mean you will know what time it is?
Since the beginning of time we have had wartime followed by peacetime, and that has repeated itself far too many times.
The music industry has ties to time as well.
There is “Summertime” by Janis Joplin, “No Time Left For You,” by the Guess Who, “Time in a Bottle,” by Jim Croce, and “If I Could Turn Back Time,” by Cher.
Cindy Lauper’s biggest hit was a song called “Time After Time,” and who could forget Hammer Time or his pants?
Does anybody know what time it is? That wasn’t really a question but more of a segue into my next topic.
“Does Anybody Know What Time It Is” was the title of No. 1 song for Chicago.
If you are a fan of Chicago, mark Saturday, Oct. 2, on your calendar.
The Luverne Area Community Foundation will host its annual fundraising concert that night.
The entertainment for the evening is a band called the Transit Authority. This eight-member band is the premier tribute band to the music of Chicago.
Tickets go on sale Monday Oct. 3 and will be available at the Palace Box Office. The Palace Box Office has a new location.
If you are standing in front of the Historic Palace Theater, the box office is the next door to the left.
It used to be to the right but now that is wrong, so remember it’s on the left.
