It’s not easy this Christmas season to be jolly and merry and shouting “Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas.”
But if you need a feel-good moment, I encourage you to check out the Luverne Area Community Foundation’s virtual Celebrations of Philanthropy. To do so, go to www.luvacf.org and click the link.
Each year, somewhere between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Foundation hosts an in-person gathering to thank the friends and donors for their commitment to our community.
Well, because of the current COVID-19 situation, that isn’t possible, so Plan B was put in place. After watching the virtual celebration, I am giving plan B an A+.
Throughout the year, Luverne Area Community Foundation Executive Director Emily Crabtree and the board of directors, along with other volunteers, host a variety of fundraisers to support dozens of worthy causes throughout Rock County.
The Virtual Celebration of Philanthropy showcases many of the organizations that received grants and how they used the money. None of this would be possible without the generosity of the donors.
LACF also gave out three awards. The Non-Profit Spotlight award was given to The Luverne Child Guide program.
The Foundation’s Spirit of Philanthropy went to Pat and Kim Von Tersch for their generosity and volunteer leadership in the community.
The Outstanding Business for 2020 was handed out to the Rock County Star Herald.
We are very honored to have been selected to receive this award.
So, like I said early on, if you need to add a dose of jolly and merry to your “Ho, ho, ho, Merry Christmas,” watch the virtual Celebration of Philanthropy on the Foundation’s website. Once again, it’s www.luvacf.org and click on the link.
