The following appeared in the Rock County Herald on November 23, 1923:

COUNTY TEACHERS INSTITUTE TO OPEN NEXT MONDAY

Three Days’ Session to be Held Under the Supervision of County Supt. Headley

All teachers of the rural school districts of the county, it is expected, will be in attendance at the annual institute for teachers which will be held in the city on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. The first meeting will open at 9 a. m. on Monday morning, at the Court House, and sessions will be held each succeeding morning and afternoon during the institute.
The classes of the institute will be in charge of Misses Cora Gien and Ida Koch. Both these ladies are normal training instructors, and are said to be very efficient and thorough in handling institute work. They will present their work along the newest methods of teaching, and the institute promises to be of exceptional value to the teachers in attendance. The new course of study for the public schools of the state has just recently been completed, and the problems taken up at the institute will be based largely upon the outline of this course of study.
The law requires that all teachers of the county, except those employed in high schools and graded schools, be present at the annual institute. There will be approximately seventy-five teachers at this convention, and for many of these, rooms will need to be provided for the days of institute. Anyone who will be able to furnish accommodations for the teachers is asked to notify County Supt. Edia A. Headley.
