“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, encouraging one another.” Hebrews 10:24-25b
My sister, Mary, and I weren't very old when we decided to make banana cream pie. We followed the recipe carefully, but didn't realize how important it was to “stir constantly.” Although the pie tasted fine, we both knew that there was a pan in the sink with scorched milk in the bottom.
The Bible tells us to stir each other up to love and good works, encouraging one another. This shouldn't be a once in awhile occurrence. Our encouragement of each other should be a regular, ongoing way of life. We should be constantly “stirring in” the love of Christ every day.
Gracious God, show us wonderful and creative new ways to stir each other up to love and good works. Give us words of encouragement for ourselves and others as we persevere together for Your name's sake, Amen.
