The 2020 Census is coming soon; get involved to ensure a complete count

The 2020 Census is coming in fewer than four weeks. As mandated by the U.S. Constitution, the census is a once-every-decade count of everyone living in the country.
You can shape your community’s future by getting involved and helping the 2020 Census count everyone.
Here are three ways you can get involved:
•Apply to work for the 2020 Census online at www. 2020Census.gov/jobs.
The Census Bureau is still recruiting Rock County residents for Census Taker positions which pay $16.50 per hour and offer paid training, flexible hours and an opportunity to work from home between 5 and 40 hours per week during May, June and July.
If you've already applied, you can check the status of your application by calling 1-855-JOB-2020 (1-855-562-2020) and press 3 to reach the Rochester area census office.
•Volunteer to join a local Complete Count Committee like the one in the city of Luverne. More information is available at 2020Census.gov/partners.
•Respond to the 2020 Census and encourage others to do so too.
In mid-March, the U.S. Census Bureau will begin sending every household in Rock County — and across Minnesota and the United States — an invitation to complete a simple questionnaire about who lives at your address on April 1.
You will have the opportunity to respond online, by phone, or by mail, and federal law keeps those responses safe and secure. For more information, go to 2020Census.gov.
By being counted in the 2020 Census, you will help in the distribution of more than $675 billion in annual federal funds for local school programs, emergency services, and roads in Rock County.
The census also determines how seats in Congress are distributed among the 50 states.
Adding your voice will help accomplish the Census Bureau’s goal of counting everyone Rock County resident once, only once, and in the right place.
